Cinema VinesActor Rajesh Sharma has denied rumours that an insect bite caused his recent hospitalisation, insisting instead that a long‑standing skin issue, worsened by uncontrolled diabetes, led to a severe infection on his right leg. In a recent interview with NDTV, Sharma explained that he had been dealing with a skin problem for some time, which escalated after his blood sugar levels spiked. He added that the treatment is now finished and he expects to return to work within a week.
Sharma called the insect‑bite story “false news” and said that nothing had happened on the set of Prabhas’s upcoming film Fauzi in Hyderabad. He clarified that neither Prabhas nor the production team were involved in any incident. “I flew back to Kolkata, and within a day or two the situation became severe because my diabetes was very high and I didn’t take it seriously at the beginning,” he said.
He also defended Sudipa Chatterjee, who had posted a statement on Instagram claiming that Sharma had been bitten by a bug or a poisonous spider while shooting at Ramoji Film City. Sharma said Chatterjee was a good friend who was concerned but had been misinformed. He recounted that after the alleged bite, he continued working, boarded a flight back to Kolkata, and then developed a high fever and worsening pain in his leg. He was admitted to Manipal Hospital in Dhakuria the following day.
Sharma’s health update comes as he awaits the release of his upcoming film Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan and starring Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar and Saiyami Kher. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on September 11. Meanwhile, Prabhas remains busy shooting for Fauzi and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit.
