Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 20 opened with a burst of drama, as TV actress Mahhi Vij sparked controversy by bringing the topic of divorce into the house. During the first episode, she pressed fellow contestants Isha Rikhi and boxing champion Mary Kom to discuss their marital breakups, a subject both refused to touch. Vij, who herself separated from actor Jay Bhanushali last year, used the moment to label the season a “divorcee special” and claim it was her “second innings” on the show.
When Kanika asked Vij if she was single, the actress declined to answer. Later, in a conversation with Isha Rikhi, Vij asked what kind of talk the contestant enjoyed and answered that she liked gossip, adding, “Tell me who has an affair with whom outside. Teen to divorcee aarakhi hai set pe, tu main aur voh boxer (Mary Kom). Second innings to humari chal rahi hai, divorcee special.” She then questioned Isha’s motive for joining Bigg Boss, to which Isha explained she had always been private and wanted to be known for her own identity rather than as someone’s partner. Vij interrupted, saying, “You are all over the internet for the past 2 months.” Isha responded that she did not want to be seen as a girlfriend or wife.
Later in the episode, Vij pressed Mary Kom about her divorce, but the boxer declined to discuss it. Vij argued that it was unnecessary to speak negatively about an ex and that there could be positives. Isha reacted angrily, accusing Vij of pushing the topic when the others were unwilling to talk about it.
Vij’s own marital history has been public. She married Jay Bhanushali in 2011 after dating, and the couple adopted two children in 2017 before welcoming a biological daughter, Tara, in 2019. Rumours of marital strain surfaced over the years, and in January 2026 the couple officially announced their separation after 14 years of marriage, stating they would continue to co‑parent their children. Despite the split, the pair said they had chosen to part ways while remaining supportive of each other.
Isha Rikhi, meanwhile, kept her relationship with rapper Badshah largely private until their marriage was revealed in 2026, with wedding photos later surfacing online. The season’s early episodes have already set a tone of heated debate and personal revelations, with Mahhi Vij at the centre of the drama over divorce and the notion of a “second innings” for herself on the reality show.
