Director Amit Rai has denied actor Paresh Rawal’s claim that he supplied the core idea for the upcoming film “Oh My God 2” (OMG 2). In a recent interview, Rai said Rawal’s statement was unsupported, asking “on what basis is he making this claim?” and insisting that he was the sole creator of the project, from concept to production.
Rai compared the development of OMG 2 to raising a child, stating that he was the one who conceived the story, wrote the script, and managed every stage of the film’s creation. He pointed to a certificate from the screenwriter association and a stamped copy of the script that bear his name as proof of his authorship.
While Rai expressed no desire to disrespect Rawal, he urged the actor to respond to the allegations through the production company or directly with the film’s producer and star Akshay Kumar. Rai added that any personal opinion from Rawal should be addressed by those involved in the project, not by him alone.
Rawal, in an interview with Vicky Lalwani, recounted that he had approached Rai with a story idea about a biker who guides a father to fight for his son. Rawal claimed he had contributed to the script’s development but later felt the project had diverged from his vision, especially after the film was titled OMG 2 and the storyline shifted. He said he was never credited for the concept and that he had walked away from the project.
The dispute highlights differing accounts of the film’s origins, with Rai firmly asserting sole ownership and Rawal alleging a collaborative genesis that was later sidelined.
