Dhamaal 4, the latest entry in the comedy franchise, opened on July 10 to a respectable opening day, pulling in ₹14 crore net across 10,669 screens. The film, directed by Indra Kumar and backed by T‑Series Films, Panorama Studios, Devgn Films, Maruti International and Anand Pandit Motion Pictures, features a star‑packed ensemble that includes Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Jaaved Jaaferi, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Upendra Limaye, Anjali Anand, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Esha Gupta and Vijay Patkar.
After a solid first weekend, which saw the movie earn ₹65 crore net, Dhamaal 4’s earnings began to slide. Day 5 collection dipped to ₹9.50 crore net, followed by a 31.6% drop on Day 6 when the film made ₹6.75 crore net. By Day 7, the net takings fell another 11.1% to ₹6 crore, bringing the total Indian net to ₹96 crore and the gross to ₹114.49 crore. Over the same period, the overseas tally grew by ₹1 crore, taking the international gross to ₹18.25 crore and the worldwide total to ₹132.74 crore.
Critics and audiences have offered mixed reactions. A review in the Hindustan Times noted that the film “recycles its story, music and even its brand of comedy, hoping nostalgia will do the heavy lifting,” and concluded that the movie fails to deliver the fun that made the original Dhamaal a hit.
Despite the lukewarm response, the makers remain optimistic about the franchise’s future. A post‑credit scene in Dhamaal 4 hints that Dhamaal 5 is already in development, with Farhad Samji attached as the writer for the next instalment.
