Vijay's son Jason Sanjay teases acting plans; directorial debut Sigma

Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay is set to make his directorial debut with the heist film Sigma, but he hinted that acting could still be on his radar. In a recent interview with Ananda Vikatan, the 20‑year‑old explained that he had been approached by filmmaker Alphonse Puthren for a role in Premam when he was just a teenager, a offer he declined to focus on his own ambitions.

Although Jason appeared in the promotional video “Sigma Style,” he clarified that he had no serious interest in acting at the moment. He said the song was a fun way to introduce the film’s style and characters, and that he only danced because it existed outside the narrative. “I didn’t appear in the promotional song because I wanted to become an actor,” he told the magazine, adding that the role was a playful experiment.

When asked about a future in acting, Jason admitted that a director’s job naturally stirs an actor’s side. “When you’re a director and you explain a scene to actors on set… there’s an actor in me too,” he said. He stressed that his primary focus is on releasing Sigma successfully. “Only after the film releases will I think about whether I want to act or continue directing,” he added.

Sigma is produced by Lyca Productions and stars Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah. The film is slated for a July 31 release, though it may be pushed to August if it clashes with Vijay’s own project Jana Nayagan. The latter, starring Vijay, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol and Pooja Hegde, was delayed by the CBFC and is now scheduled for July 23.

She remains a chief content producer while keeping her passion for cinema alive, describing the experience of watching a moving film with popcorn as unmatched.
